Activities

Support for Firefighters

When destructive wildfires swept through our communities, our local firefighters bravely worked around the clock. The LA Chapter stepped in to support their tireless efforts by providing: Daily Sack Lunches, Cold Drinks, Coffee, and Snacks, Moral and Spiritual Support

  1. Relief Fair for Fire Victims
In partnership with the Conference Women’s Department, we joined a Relief Fair that provided displaced families with essential goods and spiritual care. We also extended personal care to one of our own. When the son of a chapter member lost his home, we gathered for prayer and meal preparation, then delivered: Comfort and Devotional Support, Financial Assistance for Temporary Housing and Resettlement
  2. COMMUNITY OUTREACH & HOMELESS MINISTRY

Throughout 2024, we continued our ministry to the homeless and jobless in Van Nuys and North Hollywood, consistently providing food, prayer, and presence.

3. Monthly Outreach
200 Sack Lunches per Month, including, Sandwiches, Fruits, Snacks, Bottled Water and Grocery Bags with prayer and encouragement

4. Summer Expansion

As other programs paused due to funding cuts, we expanded our efforts:

  • 300 Sack Lunches Prepared and Distributed

Despite shelter closures and layoffs, our chapter became a reliable source of food and hope, offering a consistent, compassionate presence that the community deeply values. Our dependable presence brought not only sustenance but also dignity, hope, and connection.

5. WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT & CHURCH EVENTS

The chapter actively participated in church-hosted tea parties and women’s gatherings aimed at strengthening spiritual growth and outreach.

  • Promoted leadership among women
  • Encouraged evangelism to the unreached
  • Supported fellowship and mutual encouragement

6. LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT & CHAPTER GROWTH

We are deeply committed to growing our membership and building future leaders. This year, we:

  • Collaborated with prospective leaders across generations
  • Mentored and empowered new members
  • Promoted unity beyond status and specialization

Our goal remains clear: to build a vibrant, intergenerational alumni family united in mission.

7. LOOKING AHEAD: SUMMER 2025 & BEYOND

Our upcoming goals include:

  • Hosting summer fundraisers to support the 2025 alumni convention
  • Contributing to AUP’s ongoing projects and mission

“It only takes a spark to create a fire that will burn endlessly — bringing glory to our Maker and alma mater.”

To all who serve with love and lift others through grace—thank you. May our collective efforts shine ever brighter for AUP, our communities, and the world.

LA chapter has embarked  into a new era of change. The relevance of congruity is embedded  as we team up to push our project to help fund the gap of AUP’S finishing school of humanities building project.

Women’s Tea Party

Last May 2023, LA chapter hosted a women’s tea party with live auction at Central Filipino Church Sky Deck. It was the first women’s tea party in 66 years at CFC with the emphasis on Health, Wealth, & Beauty. Attendees were delighted & blessed by the three powerful speakers: Dr. Liberty Olive Roda Bautista, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Atty. Karen La Madrid, and Dr. Julie Edween, Plastic Surgeon. It was a successful event which has raised funds to support the College of Arts and Humanities construction.

Donation

We are happy to report that LA chapter had given $20,000 during the July convention toward the College of Arts and Humanities. Furthermore, we were inspired to have anonymous donors from our chapters that had contributed over $10,000 that made us closer to our goal of reaching the $50,000 mark. To widen our influence & foster growth we had collaborated with our  alumni friends in England to actively join our upcoming medical mission 2025 in Naga City.

Holidays are fast approaching and our last hurrah of commitment to enliven our souls & elevate the will to serve. We integrated LA chapters musical talents. Nemy Legazpi  have to quickly assemble his male quartet with the help of our new recruited member Gershon Napod to sing Christmas carols to our faithful constituents & friends. We are excited to end this year at a high spirit as we bring good tidings and joy. We are praying to keep that fire burning in our belly’s to give the gift that keeps on giving to experience the ultimate continuum of a winning attitude fortified by Gods love. Happy New year!
